Amongst the countless things 2020 has taught me, it is to never take experiences & traveling for granted…

For our 1st wedding anniversary, my husband and I decided to take a trip to St. Lucia.

I know there are quite a few concerns with traveling at the moment so here’s a little more insight on why we felt safe traveling to St. Lucia..

MANDATORY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: The bullet points below are directly from the stlucia.org website:

All arrivals (5 years and over) must have a COVID -19 PCR test with a negative result taken no more than 7 days before arrival in Saint Lucia.

All arrivals (18 years and over) must complete and submit a Travel Authorization Form.

All arriving passengers must adhere to all protocols relevant to the port of entry

All arriving passengers will be screened, this will include temperature checks

Arriving passengers will be transferred by certified taxi to approved COVID-19 accommodation or to their quarantine location

In addition to the safety measures taken upon arrival, the resorts and cab drivers in St. Lucia are “Covid certified” meaning they have received special training to enforce Covid safety measures. Our temperatures were checked throughout the day. We had to book excursions through the hotel vs. on our own so they can control social distancing/group sizes. We did not leave the resort unless we had an excursion booked in which the hotel arranged transportation for us to and from. All restaurants/activities at the resort maintained social distancing and required reservations in order to limit guests. We were extremely impressed with the safety measures in place and quite honestly, St. Lucia felt a lot more safe than Houston.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Jade Mountain: https://www.jademountain.com/

This hotel easily ranks amongst the top 5 most stunning resorts I have ever stayed at. I was blown away. Jade Mountain has such a unique design and the views capture St. Lucia’s topography perfectly. It is truly such a picturesque property and felt so serene. We chose the all inclusive meal plan that Jade Mountain offers. Typically, Usman & I don’t love the food at these all inclusive resorts however we were pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food at the resort was!

On-site Activities :

  • Enjoy the beach

  • Water activities: Sailing, wind surfing, paddle boarding, jet ski, etc.

  • Chocolate tasting

  • Spa

  • Yoga

  • Dining

  • There are plenty of other activities the hotel has to offer like cooking classes, etc.

Off-Site:

  • Gros Piton Hike: A little challenging but definitely worth it!

  • Sulfur Bath & World’s only “drive up” volcano

Considering how short our trip was, these were the only 2 activities that we got to but thoroughly enjoyed! The rest of our stay was spent enjoying the beach and everything the resort had to offer.

To sum it all up, we had an amazing time. The reason we chose to visit St. Lucia vs. other islands in the Caribbean was for it’s topography. It is such a beautiful island, the hospitality was incredible, and we would definitely go back!
