AMALFI COAST

Buongiorno!

Usman and I had the most incredible time in Italy and so I wanted to share all the deets! We ate our weight in pasta and pizza and I have no regrets. It was one of those trips that we were planning our trip to go back there before we had even left.

We absolutely fell in love with the Amalfi Coast and will be manifesting a future home there one day.

TRAVEL:

Our trip was a total of 12 days of which 2 were spent traveling. We flew United there with a layover in Frankfurt and then flew into Naples.

CITIES WE VISITED

  • Positano

  • Capri

  • Ravello

  • Naples

We spent 4 days in Positano, 3 days in Capri, 2 days in Ravello, and 1 day in Naples

TRANSPORTATION & GETTING AROUND

  • We arranged for transportation through our hotel to pick us up from the airport and drive us to Positano

  • From Positano we had booked a boat through our hotel to take us to Capri. (You can also take a ferry but we were planning to do a boat day already so this worked out perfectly)

  • We took a boat from Capri to Ravello

  • And then had a driver take us from Ravello to Naples

  • We didn’t feel comfortable driving ourselves, the roads are very narrow and it’s not recommended to drive there unless you’re familiar with the area.

HOTELs

We absolutely loved every hotel we stayed at and can’t recommend them enough

Everyone kept asking us what our favorite city was but honestly each place was special in it’s own way that it’s hard for us to choose!

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EACH CITY

POSITANO

  • Beach: We did the the main beach called Spiaggia Grade one day and Fornillo beach another day which is about a 10-15 minute walk. I definitely recommend reserving an umbrella the day before at the beaches to secure your spot. They get filled up pretty quickly! We enjoyed Fornillo more, felt less “touristy” and it’s a beautiful walk to the beach.

  • Restaurants:

    • Chev Black: located on the beach where you can get the cutest heart shaped pizza

    • Il Ritrovo: Family owned restaurant recommended to us by our photographer and may have been the best meal we had our entire trip. You can call the restaurant and ask them to pick you up. The restaurant is located at the top of the mountain with a stunning view and the food is beyond.

  • Fine dining:

During our stay in Positano, we took a day trip to explore Amalfi.

  • There we checked out the Duomo di Amalfi

  • Had the lemon cake at Andrea Pansa (a must)

  • It was def worth the day trip because the drive along the way in itself is so pretty and it’s a cute little town to explore

Capri

Highly recommend staying in Capri. A lot of people make day trips but Capri is such a vibe at night. One of our favorite things to do in the evenings was sitting at the cafe people watching or listening to live music.

  • If you can, renting a private boat to Capri was one of the ultimate highlights of our trip. It was arranged through the hotel and was a full boat day

    • We went cliff diving

    • Boat docked us for lunch on the water at a restaurant called La Conca del Sogno which we absolutely loved

    • Visited the blue grotto: highly recommend checking it out

  • Restaurants:

    • Paolinio Capri: One of my fav restaurants there. The lemon trees, food, and ambiance made for such a great dinner.

    • Aurora: Oldest restaurant in Capri and the food is delicious

    • Mamma: Michelin star restaurant

    • Il Riccio: Stunning view and you can check out the Dior Pop Up while you’re there

P.S. there’s a gelato spot you can’t miss in Capri and we had it at least 4 times. It was so so good.

We did not do a beach club while in Capri but will definitely plan to next time we go back!

Ravello

This part of the trip was so much more relaxed. Ravello is a lot quieter but it is absolutely magical.

The Belmond Caruso Hotel was mesmerizing and we hardly wanted to leave the hotel.

  • We had dinner at the hotel both evenings and it was delicious.

  • We took a pizza class on site: highly recommend we really enjoyed it

The only time we left the hotel was to check out Villa Rufolo. We enjoyed seeing it along with the little town!

Since we were flying out of Naples we wanted to make sure we spent a little time there. We stopped to take a tour to Pompeii on the way and it was incredible to see and learn the history! Personally, I think Naples is extremely underrated. There’s so much culture in the city  and the street food is insanely good.

Favorite pizza spots:

*When in Naples, you have to try the pizza fritta - fried pizza with ricotta, parmesan, mozzarella, and basil and it’s delish*

Overall, this trip was truly one of the best vacations I’ve ever had! Amalfi has my heart and I cannot wait to go back <3 ICYMI: all my Italy stories are saved on IG highlights- @happilymadz
