P A R I S

…With a sprinkle of South of France

& Amsterdam <3

Bonjour!

Everything you need to know about our time in Paris!

… for the most part.

If you’ve been following along, you know I spent about 4 weeks in Paris this summer for a short fashion course! While there, I had to make the most of living a “European Summer” or #MadzinParis. There’s so much to cover and I’m going to do my best to keep it short & sweet!

Paris:

Tourist Attractions: (main ones)

I’ve done some of these before but in case it’s your 1st time there!

  • Eiffel Tower

  • Seine River

  • The Louvre: Closed on Tuesdays btw.

  • Palace of Versailles

  • Champs Elysees

  • Arch de Triomphe

Restaurants:

  • Girafe: Eiffel Tower view

    • If this restaurant is booked, their website automatically redirects you to their sister restaurant called Monsieur Bleu. (happened to us) We personally didn’t have the best experience here!

  • Gigi’s Paris: Eiffel Tower view

    • Probably one of my favorite dinners we had in Paris! Loved the rooftop view, there was live music in the restaurant, and the food was great.

  • La Perouse:

    • Another one of my favorite dinner spots and this restaurant seemed to have a lot of history. There’s a cool lounge on the first floor. Ultimately, it’s a major vibe and the food was excellent.

  • Cesar’s Paris:

    • An IG hot spot. Cool ambiance/good food.

  • Pink Mamma:

    • Another trendy spot that is good from brunch or dinner. The Italian food was on point and the restaurant was super cute. You don’t have to have a reservation here but I’d recommend it otherwise you do have to wait a bit!

  • Buddha Bar

    • We went there twice and loved it both times! Great ambiance, the DJs killed it with the music, and the food was so good.

  • New Jawad:

    • Had to save the best for last. I first came to this restaurant with my family about 9 years ago and have gone back every time since! The indian food is so good. You have to get the butter chicken and cheese naan it is *chefs kiss*

Side note:

  • Try scheduling reservations in advance if available! We noticed that a lot of restaurants availability was very limited online so sometimes would just call/show up at the restaurants and they would be able to accommodate us.

  • Some of these more popular restaurants like Giraffe/Gigis have 2 different seatings. 7pm & 10pm. I always recommend the 10pm! People seem to do dinner later there and it’s a lot more vibey for the 2nd seating.

Museums/Exhibits:

  • The Louvre:

    • A very popular attraction where the famous Mona Lisa is displayed

  • Musee des Arts Decoratiffs:

    • Have different exhibitions going on. I went to see the Schiaparelli exhibition and it was exceptional

  • Palais de Tokyo:

    • This was cool and had interesting installations. It’s also open until midnight so that made it feel even cooler.

  • There are plenty of museums and exhibits to check out while you’re there, these are just the ones I was able to check out!

Areas to explore:

  • Champs Elysees: Lots of shopping and very touristy

  • Avenue Montaigne: Designer shopping

  • Marais: one of my favorite areas. Small streets, lots of shops and restaurants.

  • Montmartre: Artsy area

Misc Recommendations:

  • Jardins du Luxembourg: one of my fav gardens. Beautiful place to have a picnic or just walk around!

  • Le Perchoir Rooftop: Exceptional view

  • Scooter around the city: especially at night

  • Moulin Rouge Show

  • Cafe de Flore: iconic cafe

Getting around:

  • Walk!! The best way to see this city is to just walk as much of it as you can. I miss my 20,000+ step count haha.

  • Cab/Uber

  • Metro

Airbnb:

    • We loved staying here. It was an 8 minute walk from school for me and about a 10 minute walk to Champs Elysees. Everything felt pretty central for the most part.

When in France for about a month, taking the Eurorail or a short flight somewhere is almost a must. We decided on Antibes & Amsterdam! Both were super short quick trips and well worth it.

Antibes:

This was a very last minute trip because I was waiting to plan it after I had gotten my school schedule. We were hoping to do St. Tropez or Cannes but due to extremely limited availability, flights, and the time crunch..Antibes ended up making the most sense.

Getting there:

  • Took a short flight

Hotel: https://www.ca-beachhotel.fr/

  • Loved our stay here

  • Michelin Star Restaurant on the property: Les Pecheurs

Things to do:

  • We had 2 days here and wanted to spend majority of our time on the beach

  • Went jet skiing one day

  • Explores the old town of antibes: thoroughly enjoyed this

Amsterdam:

  • Another spontaneous short trip. I really loved Amsterdam a lot more than I had expected. The street fashion, food, and city was so enjoyable.

Hotel: The W Amsterdam: https://bit.ly/3zxeWxI

  • Check out the rooftop lounge

  • Mr. Purple restaurant: great view

Things to do:

  • Shopping: didn’t expect this but some of my best shopping on our trip happened here! Vintage finds, etc.

  • MOCO Museum

  • Foodhallen

  • The Upside Down

That just about sums up what had been an incredible month. I’m having major withdrawals being back home and can’t wait to make it back there hopefully soon! In the meantime, I hope this was helpful! If you have any questions beyond this, you’re more than welcome to send me a message! xx
